The Montclair Public Library is pleased to announced it will be showing a series of films with the theme of Super Spies at 1:00 pm on Wednesdays in its Auditorium through the month of June. Admission is free at the Montclair Public Library.

June 6 - Across the Pacific
Humphrey Bogart plays Rick Leland, a disgraced ex-Army man, who, after being turned down by the Canadian military, jumps a Japanese steamer bound for the Panama Canal Zone. As he encounters other passengers onboard, no one is exactly as he or she claims to be and the voyage becomes a matter of life and death for both the passengers and for the future of the United States.


June 13 – Paris Underground
This film starring Constance Bennett and Gracie Fields was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score. During the brutal Nazi occupation of France, an American in Paris conspires to smuggle a British reporter out of the country and winds up creating the Paris Underground, a network to help captives and foreign nationals escape Nazi tyranny.

June 20 – Night Train to Munich
When the Germans march into Prague, inventor Dr. Bomasch flees to England. His daughter Anna, played by Margaret Lockwood, escapes from arrest to join him; however, the Gestapo manage to kidnap them both back to Berlin. As war looms, British secret service agent Gus Bennet follows disguised as a senior German army officer.

June 27 – Foreign Correspondent
This 1940 American spy thriller film directed by Alfred Hitchcock was nominated for six Academy Awards, including one for Albert Bassermann as Best Supporting Actor. It tells the story of an American reporter who tries to expose enemy spies in Britain just before World War II.
