Join the Montclair Community Band Free Outdoor Summer Concert 3 – “The British are Coming” – on the Montclair High School Front Lawn, Corner of Chestnut and Park Streets, Montclair (rain place MHS Auditorium).
The program features a variety of music with a British flair. Conductor Jim Wasko programmed the concert to coincide with the start of the Summer Olympics in London on July 27. Beatles tunes, selections from Gilbert and Sullivan operettas and music from ‘My Fair Lady’ will evoke the thought of the British Isles, and everyone can tap their toes to the Royal Air Force March, the "Dambusters March" and the "Brighton Beach March."
"The "Folk Song Suite," one of English composer Ralph Vaughan Williams' most famous works for military band, will be on the program, along with Warren Barker’s "Ireland," a collection of favorite Irish tunes. As always, the band will be playing our national march, "The Stars and Stripes Forever" to close the program.
Bring a blanket or lawn chair.
