Tuesday, July 24, 7:00 p.m., Essex County Kip’s Castle Park, Montclair/Verona: Broadway Extravaganza
Essex County Executive Joseph N. DiVincenzo, Jr. invites the public to attend the 2012 Essex County Free SummerMusic Concert Series. The free Concert Series brings a diverse group of musicians and entertainers to perform at locations throughout the historic Essex County Park System and provides residents with an evening leisure activity to enjoy the parks. This year’s series features two concert and fireworks spectaculars, the South Orange International Blues Festival and Brookdale Park concerts being returned to Friday nights.
Concerts are held at accessible sites. Persons who require special accommodations or assistance are asked to call at least two weeks prior to the concert to alert staff as to their needs. Kip's Castle is a 10-acre estate in Verona and Montclair. It contains a 9,000-square-foot mansion that replicates a medieval Norman castle, and a 6,000-square-foot two-story carriage house.
The grounds are open to the public from dawn to dusk. Please feel free to walk around and picnic on the lawn.
The main castle building is home to the Essex County Division of Cultural and Historic Affairs and opens for special events. Office hours are 9:00am to 5:00pm.
The carriage house consists only of County offices and is not open to the general public.
The first floor of Kip's Castle is open for self-guided tours Monday through Thursday between the hours of 1:00 pm and 5:00 pm until September 1, 2012
