Liselot van der Heijden, Les Uns et Les Autres,The Montclair Art Museum is pleased to present New Media: New Forms, a group exhibition of new media art by New Jersey-based artists and this year's New Jersey Arts Annual: Fine Arts exhibition. As the world becomes increasingly digitized, many contemporary artists are incorporating new technologies into their work.

The 13 artists selected for this juried exhibition produce work that actively and innovatively engages with digital media, in terms of process, form, or content. The featured artists work in all media, including video, sound, installation, photography, sculpture, drawing, and performance.

The New Jersey Arts Annual is a unique series of Fine Arts and Crafts exhibitions highlighting the works of visual artists and craftspeople in the state. The Arts Annual series is co-sponsored by the New Jersey Council on the Arts/Department of State, a partner agency of the National Endowment of the Arts; the Montclair Art Museum; the Morris Museum; the Newark Museum; the Noyes Museum of Art and the New Jersey State Museum.

The exhibition was open to artists currently living or working in New Jersey and who engage with digital media in their work, and was juried by Curator of Contemporary Art Alexandra Schwartz of the Montclair Art Museum and Kelly Baum, Haskell Curator of Modern and Contemporary Art at the Princeton University Art Museum. New Media: New Forms is organized by Alexandra Schwartz with MAM Curatorial Assistant Kimberly Fisher.

The Montclair Art Museum (MAM), a notable, community-based institution with an international reputation, boasts a renowned collection of American and Native American art that uniquely highlights art making in the United States over the last three hundred years. The collection includes more than 12,000 objects: paintings, prints, original works on paper, photographs, and sculpture by American artists from the 18th century to the present, as well as traditional and contemporary Native American art and artifacts representing the cultural developments of peoples from all of the major American Indian regions. The Museum’s education programs serve a wide public and bring artists, performers, and scholars to the Museum on a regular basis.
