Kayla has been singing since she was very small. She picked up the guitar during Hurricane Sandy when her family had no power and her mother -- musician, actress, author, TV34 Arts Up Close host Zara Phillips -- taught her a different chord everyday. By the end of the week Kayla was playing Taylor Swift and Katy Perry songs.

Kayla also loves to act and dance and last year was cast as the lead role in ”Intervention”an independent film directed by Jonathan Bucari due for release later this year.

In celebration of the Centennial of the Andrew Carnegie Bellevue Avenue Library, with the support of the Montclair Public Library, Cordelia Siporin, film scholar, will screen and discuss selected scenes from silent films from popular film genres of 1914, provided with live keyboard accompaniment by Jonathan McDevitt.

2014 Montclair Film Festival: More than 90 Films & Events Set for April 28-May 4

Continuing to grow in its third year, the Montclair Film Festival (MFF) today announced the lineup for its 2014 edition. The announcement was made by Artistic Director Thom Powers and Executive Director Raphaela Neihausen.

The festival opens on April 28 with Chef, the new comedy directed by and starring Jon Favreau with an esteemed supporting cast that includes John Leguizamo, Sofia Vergara and Scarlett Johansson, being released nationwide in May. Special guests for opening night will be announced in coming weeks. MFF’s popular live conversation series presents eclectic guests including Kevin Smith, Michael Moore and Julie Taymor paired with Stephen Colbert.

Dance the Night Away at MAM's Centennial Ball & Fashionably Late Dance Party

Guests are invited to partake in the fun by dressing from their favorite decade for a chic soirée to celebrate art and fashion through the century. Cocktails will be held in Leir Hall at 6:30 p.m. inside the Museum followed by dinner in the Grand Tent at 8:00 p.m. on the front lawn. The Fashionably Late Dance Party begins at 9:30 p.m. in Leir Hall.

Jersey Jackals Schedule National Anthem Tryouts

The New Jersey Jackals are hosting auditions for "The Star-Spangled Banner" on Sunday, April 27, at 9:00 am, at Yogi Berra Stadium on the campus of Montclair State University. Performers of all ages and experience levels are invited to try out, but only a select few will have the privilege of performing at a Jackals game during the 2014 season. Contestants may also audition for the Canadian national anthem, "Oh, Canada", as two of the Jackals opponents play their home games north of the border.
